WORRYING LESS ABOUT WEEKLY CRISES

you've seen this before. we survived. we will again.

The Lesson

Age gives you one superpower: a finely-tuned BS detector from having seen more patterns. Nuclear war drills, Vietnam dominos, hippies destroying civilization, stagflation, Y2K, oil shortages, 2009 financial crisis, terrorism. All felt apocalyptic at the time. We got through them. Not because we're lucky, but because humans are clever at getting past stuff. The current crisis feels unique because you haven't seen enough crises yet. Every generation panics about what's new to them. Experience teaches: this too shall pass, probably better than expected.

Real-World Example

A young founder panics about market downturn. 'VCs aren't funding! The economy is collapsing!' An experienced founder shrugs: 'I built through 2008. I built through COVID. Downturns clear out weak competitors, focus minds, and create opportunities for the lean and determined. This is baseline human drama, not apocalypse.' Same crisis, different pattern library. More exposure to non-catastrophic catastrophes = calmer execution.
