ASSESSING YOUR VALUE

your value is what you give. you control that.

The Lesson

Wrong measure of value: who cares about me most? Relationships change, jobs change, situations change. That measure is unstable and controlled by others. Right measure: what do you give to other people? Your paycheck shows your economic value. Your family support shows your relational value. Your kindness, listening, favors, charity. That's your value. And you control it. Don't let other people's opinions define your worth. You decide how much you give, and that's the only lasting source of value.

Real-World Example

A founder feels worthless after their startup fails. They measure value by: investors rejected me, team left, users churned. Wrong measure. Right measure: What did you give? You employed people for two years. You solved a problem for early users. You mentored junior engineers. That value is real and yours. The startup's failure doesn't erase what you gave.
