EYE CONTACT MASTERY

enter room: eye contact everyone. conversation: make and break.

The Lesson

Eye contact rules for owning a room. Entering: make eye contact with everyone willing to look-quick acknowledgment, slight smile or nod. Walk in looking down and you'll be ignored forever. In conversation: make eye contact to make your point, then look away, then come back. Don't hold it continuously. That gets creepy fast. Handshakes: look at the hand first to ensure good grip (avoid finger-grab), then immediately to eyes for introduction. Master these and you've mastered eye contact.

Real-World Example

A founder walks into investor meetings looking at their notes. They're ignored. They try the technique: enter, sweep the room with eye contact and nods, then sit. During pitch: eye contact while making key points, look away while explaining details, come back for conclusions. Investors report feeling more 'connected.' Same pitch, different eye contact pattern, different outcome.
