UNDERDOING IT

underdo exercise so it never hurts. pain kills habits. easy builds lifetime.

The Lesson

Fitness experts say push hard for fast results. Hypnotist perspective: if something hurts, you'll find ways to avoid it. Pain prevents habits. Instead: underdo it. Start with weights so light it's almost embarrassing. Stay there for months until it's effortless. Your own boredom and improved fitness will make you naturally want more. Movement that feels good creates dopamine, dopamine creates habits. Running? Start with a quarter mile until it's easy, then inch up. Never hurt yourself. Ignore experts who say 'go hard.' If you want to exercise for a lifetime, make sure it never hurts.

Real-World Example

A founder keeps starting and quitting exercise programs. Each time: push hard, get sore, find excuses, quit. They try underdoing it: 5-minute walks. Then 10. Then light weights with zero strain. Six months later, they're exercising daily. It just became what they do. The habit formed because it never hurt. Now they gradually increase, but always staying below the pain threshold.
